While creating this sunset piece I focused on the energy of forgiving. I was in a reflective period of my life where it was time to release resentment I had toward events and people who had hurt me. This also includes forgiving myself for how I responded in situations that I’m not proud of. Sunsets often remind me of the closing of a cycle. As the sun sets along the landscape and lets the the day become the past I too found it time to end the cycle and let the past be the past. I let each brush stroke in the sky remain independent instead of blending in to the ones next to it to help signify the many facets of what it means to forgive. It hasn’t always been an easy concept for me but what I’m learning most importantly is forgiving isn’t for others it is for yourself. To forgive is to let yourself release the anger and resentment you have held onto because it no longer serves you.
This painting is a 9”x 12” water soluble oil on panel that comes in a ready to hang float frame.
